Hardware

LazerZone™ transmitter provides a wide measurement area- 600m/2,000ft in diameter and up to10m/33ft in height. This is a very special laser which creates a zone of which provides the precise vertical information to attain millimeter accuracy.

The PZS-1 Rover Sensor is designed to receive this very special precise vertical information and incorporate the vertical correction into the GPS+ elevation calculation resulting in millimeter accuracy. The PZS-1 is designed to be used on the rover rod placed directly under the GPS receiver.

The ability to bring mmGPS accuracy to the cab of a motorgrader or dozer requires a little different configuration. This is where the PZS-MC sensor comes into play. This sensor incorporates not only the ability to receive the precise elevation information but it also incorporates the actual GPS antenna as well.

TOPCON Positioning Systems has been very successful integrating components to bring to the market a simpler but yet more comprehensive system. The System Five 3D Control Box is a perfect example. This being our latest control box it is excellent for conventional 2d laser, sonic and cross-slope systems as well as 3D equipped machines. In addition it is fully compatible with all 2D systems even if they were produced a decade or more ago. That is compatibility!

The MC-A2 is our high precision GPS+ dual antenna system. The MC-A2 maintains the correct elevation even when the blade is tilted. This system also provides immediate heading corrections. This is yet another “Worlds First” for Topcon!

Software

TOPCON Positioning Systems, Inc. has released version 5.11 of Pocket 3D. This new version brings to the table many new field solutions that you all have been asking for. Here are just a few new key features

• Stake-out to a poly-line
• Auto-topo by elevation
• Measure tape offsets - (Line offset)
• Create a poly-line

Technology

The technologies used in equipment automation are many. Starting with basic laser and sonic controls that have been around for years going all the way to automated systems controlled by satellites. The latest and most dramatic advancement involves using GPS to provide 2D and 3D control. Now we are taking the next step incorporating some or all of these technologies in coordination with each other. The perfect example of this is our Millimeter GPS, which utilizes GPS and laser technology along with radio technology to bring us millimeter vertical accuracy.
